After using a semi-glossy white paint that he brought I notice he's leaving paint brush strokes while our frame is smooth. I tell him this and he assures me that the strokes will disappear when the paint dries (they didn't). After he's done painting, I took a step back to see how it looked and noticed that the putty wasn't cut straight and our frame now curves inward. I tell him this and he says he can't see it and that it looks perfect. But he's willing to sand it and re-paint. I ask him how he's supposed to sand it if he can't see the issue. He just shrugs. At this point, I see no point in continuing and ask him to leave.

Von Sydow promised the seller to fix this for free and we just had to schedule a time.

We purchased a new place and the seller used Von Sydow to move out. They ended up damaging the door frame on the day of our closing and unfortunately this ended up being our problem.

Talked to Brad Von Sydow the owner and had a very bad experience with him. Was suppose to move and they just forgot about me, and said they will have a truck out by the next day. I said I need to move today, someone was waiting to move in after I left. Brad Von Sydow sounded very intoxicated at felt that he did not care. Then his wife Judy Von Sydow called and started yelling at me for not letting them come the next day and she kept telling me I am stupid, which I did not understand. Worst moving company ever.

The 2 weeks came, I took a half day off from work and waited for the contractor. He never showed up. I contacted Heidi again telling her this and she gave me his contact information to call him directly.

It is now close to a month after I first contacted Von Sydow. The contractor arrives, starts filling the gap with putty (we wanted the right side of the frame replaced, but at this point we'll take any kind of fix). I bring the paint that the previous owner left that was used to paint the condo. They are both flat paints while the frame has a bit of gloss to it. I tell the contractor that they're both flat, but one of the paints is closer to the color of the frame than the other. He calls me color blind and proceeds to use the other paint which turns out to have a yellowish tint. He realizes his mistake and wipes the paint off. No apology was included.

My wife contacts Heidi that day and shows her the job that the contractor did. She agrees that this is not an acceptable fix and says she will talk to the manager and contact us next business day. We don't hear from her (of course) and call back. She then tells us that the manager does not talk to customers and that they will not be doing anything to fix this issue.

This family business's which is the only people I deal with. Was on time, prepared, and went above and beyond what they needed to do. Tipping the guys always goes a super long way. Thanks you Chris for taking care of me and moving my things to pure perfection. Von Sydow went from A to Z. It thought that they were on the high end , but it saved me so much money doing it right the first time. Nothing messed up. You pay for performance.

Avoid at all costs! The sales rep was not very professional when he came out but we ended up going with the company because Jim Schwantz, mayor of Palatine worked there and I had heard good things from one other neighbor. We were wrong. Always listen to your instincts. I have moved every couple of years, including some small condos in the city with lots of back stairs. Never have I had any damaged furniture. Until now. We paid the extra money for insurance, don't do that as it doesn't cover anything. They damaged two pieces of furniture. After 2 months of getting the run around, they said that the damage wasn't their fault. No one came out to look at it. They paid .30 cents on the pound insisting that we couldn't prove it was their fault. I asked to speak to the owner. Left multiple messages. I live in the community and am embarrassed by their lack of professionalism. I got a check in the amount of 45 dollars to replace about 1200 dollars worth of furniture. Not a deal. We can tack that onto our moving charges. Zero customer service.

I gave him a call, he told me he had a family emergency and called the previous owner to cancel. Ok, fine. We rescheduled for a week and a half later.

Very happy with the crew. Moving is very stressful and they made me feel very comfortable. Pricing was very competitive and they have years and years of experience. Will refer in the future.

I called Von Sydow on October 6th and spoke with Heidi about scheduling a day and time for their contractor (David Honquest) to come in. She told me the contractor would call me about scheduling. I didn't hear from the contractor within 3 days and decided to contact Heidi again. She apologized on his behalf and said she'll forward my information again. The contractor ended up calling a couple of days later and scheduled the repair 2 weeks out.

Overall, terrible moving company (I have used moving companies over half a dozen times and have never had any damage done to property) and even worse customer service.
